The Wheatbelt Aboriginal Health Service specialises in providing quality healthcare and health education to indigenous Australians situated in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.
The app was created to support WA Country Health Services (WACHS)
and the Wheatbelt Aboriginal Health Service (WAHS) to promote the Ngamari (Smoke) Free initiative within Indigenous communities in Western Australia.
BEVIN Creative and WACHS have worked together for four years on this initiative and through previous engagements have developed a visual identity that utilises characters and personalities
that represent various demographics within the target audience. Through developing a series of characters, we have been able to utilise them in various applications to get key messaging across to targeted audiences and successfully impact these communities; changing the way they think about smoking and vaping.
We also helped create coloured backgrounds to differentiate between the target demographics and the messaging context. For example, the blue backgrounds were specifically linked to “Young People” characters and messaging. This correlation of visual identity has been consistently maintained over the four years and has now become recognisable as part of WACHS’s key marketing material.
We were tasked in assisting WACHS in providing explainer animation videos to help the Ngamari Free TIS (Tackling Indigenous Smoking) team educate indigenous people on the dangers of smoking, the importance of their health as well as providing resources and support to reduce smoking within their communities.
We developed 2D animated videos to deliver specific messages targeted at the effects of smoking which can lead to Chronic Disease. These videos are all to promote the Tackling Indigenous Smoking-Ngamari Free (Smoke Free) message.
Quit smoking support is available through contacting our No More Ngamari (No More Smokes) Team on 9690 2888 or Wheatbelt Quit Smoking Program 9690 1720.
